Enrollment details
Classes are held Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, during the Ithaca City School District academic year.
The Ellis Hollow Nursery School is located in the Ellis Hollow Community Center, at 111 Genung Road on the eastern side of Ithaca. It is convenient to Cornell University.
Class size is limited to 15 children. All children must be 3 by December 1 of the year they will attend the school.
Children must be toilet-trained and capable of managing their own bathroom hygiene, and must have all of their immunizations, including varicella (chicken pox vaccine).
Tuition
Tuition is $160 per month, with an annual registration fee of $10.
Calendar
The Ellis Hollow Nursery School follows the Ithaca City School District calendar for holidays and snow days. However, the first and last days of school are usually different. For 2007-08, our school begins on September 18 and ends on June 12.
How to apply
Applications can be requested by emailing or calling the registrars, Beth and Chuck Goelzer Lyons, at 227-8006.
Applications are accepted year-round. There is no application fee. Acceptance decisions are made starting March 1.
Because the Ellis Hollow Nursery School benefits from the use of the Ellis Hollow Community Center, this priority order for making acceptance decisions applies to applications received prior to March 1:
- Children who were enrolled the previous year
- Children of Ellis Hollow residents or Ellis Hollow Association members with a sibling who was or is enrolled in the Ellis Hollow Nursery School
- Children of Ellis Hollow residents or Ellis Hollow Association members without previous involvement with the Ellis Hollow Nursery School
- Children who reside outside the Ellis Hollow area with a sibling who was or is enrolled in the Ellis Hollow Nursery School
- Children who reside outside the Ellis Hollow area without previous involvement with the Ellis Hollow Nursery School
After March 1, acceptance decisions are made based on the order in which applications are received.
To hold the spot of a child who has been accepted, a $160 deposit is required, refundable if the child completes the school year.
